Your Personal Data
The Education, Language, and Internationalisation Network (henceforth ELINET) will be what’s known as the ‘Data Controller’ and you will be known as the ‘Data Provider’. The Data Provider’s personal data will be collected and processed in relation to the ELINET’s Massively Open Online Course (henceforth MOOC) for the purpose of enrolment and educational progress on the MOOC (insert address for MOOC). This Privacy Notice will explain how ELINET will process your personal data.
Why ELINET needs it
ELINET is collecting the Data Provider’s basic personal data in order to manage the Data Provider’s educational progress throughout the MOOC. ELINET will only collect data that is necessary to fulfil and oversee this.
Legal basis for processing the Data Provider’s data
ELINET must have a legal basis for processing all personal data. In this instance, the legal basis is ‘Consent’.
What ELINET does with your data and who ELINET shares it with
All the personal data submitted by the Data Provider is processed by ELINET’s Data Processors (henceforth ELINET coordinators) through ELINET in the United Kingdom. ELINET will not share the Data Provider’s personal data with any third party unless ELINET has obtained the Data Provider’s prior consent or are required by law to do so.
Where and how long does ELINET keep it
The Data Provider’s data will be retained by ELINET on the website and a backup will be kept on the University of Glasgow’s severs. The Data Provider’s data will be managed and retained by ELINET indefinitely unless requested by the Data Provider or the data is no longer necessary for the ELINET Website and affiliated media. Upon request from the Data Provider, all personal data will be securely deleted from ELINET and University of Glasgow servers.
What are the Data Provider’s rights?
The Data Provider can request access to the information ELINET process about the Data Provider at any time. If at any point the Data Provider believes that the information ELINET processes relating to the Data Provider is incorrect, the Data Provider can request to see this information and may in some instances request to have it restricted, corrected, or erased. The Data Provider may also have the right to object to the processing of data and the right to data portability.
As ELINET is using ‘Consent’ as the legal basis to process the Data Provider’s personal data, the Data Provider also has the right to withdraw their consent at any time

Complaints
If the Data Provider wishes to raise a complaint on how ELINET have handled your personal data, the Data Provider can reach out to the ELINET project lead, Doctor Galloway at Nicola.Galloway@glasgow.ac.uk. The Data Provider can also contact the University of Glasgow Data Protection Officer who will investigate the matter. The University of Glasgow’s Data Protection Officer can be contacted at dataprotectionofficer@glasgow.ac.uk.
If the Data Provider is not satisfied with ELINET’s response or believe ELINET is not processing the Data Provider’s personal data in accordance with the law, the Data Provider can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) https://ico.org.uk.
